Lunch Experience at Ekaa Mumbai:

The name ‘Ekaa’ refers to ‘one’ or ‘unique,’ and its Head Chef Niyati Rao and co-founder Sagar Neve shall make sure the diners have a completely unique and fine dining culinary experience.

Ekaa Restaurant is well located in one of Mumbai’s iconic buildings Kitab Mahal at Fort. Kitab Mahal: the 131-year-old building itself is an architectural marvel. This place is a neoclassical structure where its wooden stairway leads to an amazing gastronomic restaurant. This restaurant has a long bar with bottles of infusions that feature the elegant cocktails and mocktails for their diners.

Ambience

The decor here is aesthetic yet not flashy; the minimalism is evident in each design features this place has a towering ceiling, simple wooden furniture with handwoven chairs, lamps handcrafted by local artisans. One of the unique things about this place is diners have a full-fledged view of the kitchen from their tables.

This place has no such cuisine centric, but it is a chef’s interpretation of different ingredients, where they take diverse flavours and ingredients from around the country and bring them to one single space. A bar with high chairs is separated from the main dining area, and also they have a private room which is available for those wanting a personal culinary experience amongst close family and friends group.

The Ekaa Mumbai has 3 well-designed menus: the Tapas (Sort of a small plate) and extensive à la Carte menus with even the outstanding cocktail menu, themed around the seven ecosystems of India and the Chef’s special tasting menu which is a 10-course meal and retains elements of surprise. They really promote diners eating with their hands whether it’s the tasting or à la carte menu.

We had visited this place during lunch hours what all we tried:

  1. Sour Dough:  This is part of the tapas menu it’s a slice of sourdough with the creamy cauliflower base and Tomme De Bombai. The dish was covered with leaves and almonds for extra crunch.
  2. Churro: This is a savory churro that is covered in parmesan cheese served on a wooden plate. This crunchy churro to be dipped in a bowl of potato sauce and it was topped with smoked thetcha.
  3. Wheat: Part of the à la carte menu it had a crisp wheat base which was topped with caramelized eggplant, onion jam, and spicy powder topped with barley when we first saw this dish it reminded us of Khakra. This was accompanied by light & silken tofu pudding, and it enhances the flavours of this dish.
  4. After 8: This is a perfect way to end this amazing meal this desserts consist of whipped chocolate ganache with a combination of peppermint with crisp phyllo it was a great combination of mint and chocolate.

Keeping the authenticity of flavours intact Ekaa is all set to refine your dining experience and make it most memorable one.
